Application of spatial information technology for emergency response in traffic accident

In densely populated China, traffic accident endangers thousands of peoples’ lives and property. Every year, more than 100,000 people lose their lives in traffic accident and on average 300 people are killed per day, causing enormous disruption to civil infrastructures. Frequently emergency services struggle to react in time and control a fast-developing situation. Based on an analysis of spatial information and GIS, GPS, RS, GSM/GPRS/3G integration technology, the paper discusses the preliminary research results on the application mode of spatial information integration technology in traffic accident emergency rescue system(TAERS). In this system, as an endeavor to reduce the response time, plans are made to provide route information to rescue truck, ambulance drivers and control traffic signals to facilitate ambulance travel. Furthermore, system compositions, the architecture and functions are also introduced in the context.
