Design of Non-uniform Circular Antenna Arrays Using Coordinated Bacterial Dynamics and Opposite Numbers

In this paper, a very simple optimization algorithm called Coordinated Bacterial Dynamics and Opposite Numbers (CBDO) is proposed to design a non-uniform circular antenna array with optimum side lobe level reduction. Here the bacterial dynamics is used to determine an optimum set of the excitation current amplitudes of antenna elements and element separations of a non-uniform planar circular antenna arrays which can achieve minimum side lobes levels for a fixed first null beam-width. In our proposed algorithm, there are only three bacterial searching agents. One primary bacterium follows two secondary bacteria to reach global optima. The design results obtained using CBDO shows that it provides better side lobe level reduction than that obtained using modified IWO, basic IWO, DE, PSO and GA.
