Remarks on the time-optimal control of a class of hamiltonian systems

The author deals with time-optimal control and some other questions for multivariable systems for which a certain Hamiltonian structure is present. The main results characterize regions of the state space where singular trajectories cannot exist, and provide high-order conditions for optimality. A class of Hamiltonian systems is first defined. A time-optimal control problem is then discussed, and Pontryagin's maximum principle is delineated.<<ETX>>
